Darren Garvey

You have never heard this music before. No one has. Devoting his time to enhancing the music of others as a successful and widely sought-after studio musician with more than 40 records on his discography, Darren Garvey's all-original works have remained hidden, untouched, and unheard. Songs upon songs have been scratched to paper and brain for years with no outlet.

Until now.

Garvey will release his first solo record Under A Common Ceiling in March of 2010 on Quell Records. In addition to handling all lead vocal duties for the first time on record, Garvey plays a long list of instruments, ranging from piano to pump organ to micro korg, accordion, mbira, banjo, guitars, bass, and an array of percussion instruments.

The eclectic variety of the material on Under A Common Ceiling is born from Garvey's diverse multi-facted performance career. While exploiting this full palette of sounds, the recording focuses on melody and lyrics, lyrics that that describe the everyday struggle with technology, loneliness, and the human condition.

Garvey has toured with Ralph's Kind (VH1's Best Unsigned Band 1999), the Andreas Kapsalis Trio, and Cameron McGill & What Army, and picked up endorsement deals from C & C Custom Drums and Vic Firth Sticks and Mallets.
